Major Event Announcements

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

When big events happen in our lives we cannot wait to share the news with everyone, these days everyone is doing this via online methods, however some of us still find this very impersonal. We still believe that mailed announcements are so much nicer to receive; it gives you something solid to put in your hands and enjoy.

For instance, when a baby is born, isn’t it nice to receive birth announcements, also known as new baby announcements, with a picture of the child? This allows you to put the picture up and enjoy it far more than an online picture. Visitors will see these pictures and you will have something wonderful to talk about and share.

When a couple gets married in my family I always encourage marriage announcements so once again, the picture can be shared and enjoyed in a much easier manner. It makes a person feel special because they know that you took the time to handwrite and mail an announcement or card.

Another thing that has become very impersonal is the invitation; people are using e-vites and FaceBook to plan parties. What happened to the good old-fashioned hand written invitation? Recently, I even received a birthday party email, can you imagine? 1st birthday invitations sent via email? It was surprising and the turnout was just not the same since a good deal of the invitations went to senior members of the family and many of them do not have the same capacity to use modern computer technology, for these family members, a mailed invitation would have been much better.

Think about your guests and what is best for them when planning parties, consider all of the aspects of the event and decide what will work best for you.

Cool Tribal Jewelry

Saturday, March 14th, 2009

If you are anything like me then you are always on the lookout for cool new jewelry styles, well I have found some exceptional pieces at great prices and I just wanted to share them with you, my readers.

These tribal pendants show the simplistic elegance that only true style can bring, take a look at the lines, conture and beauty throughout the piece.

Next, take a look at this great UFC fight symbol, it is just what is worn by the fighters and is universally recognized. Who could resist this beautiful fight necklace? Not me, I have already ordered mine and simply cannot wait to wear this along with my fight symbol t-shirts. I know it doesn’t sound very feminine, but I am a firm believer in to eachs own, in other words you should do or wear what makes you feel good.

And finally, but never least, there are some wonderful two tone pendants. They are yellow gold and silver, they are soft and the lines are perfect. The two tone pieces are speacilized jewelry pendants that are made to display the beauty of gold and its ability to present in different ways.

Hope everyone enjoys these as much as I do.

Modern Day Native American Artists

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

It is beautiful to see that even in today’s high tech modern world Native Americans continue to produce the simple earth based art handed down to them by the generations of Elders who came before.

There are many wonderful Native American Artists, but one of the most impressive is Eddie Morrison.

Eddie Morrison is one of the many notable Native American Artists; his work is very natural, carved from natural stone materials. The bears are not only the sweetest Indian Art you have ever seen, but also incredibly detailed and almost lifelike in appearance.

Eddie Morrison is a Native Cherokee Indian born in September of 1946. He was raised by his grandmother, a full-blooded Cherokee and later attended Northeastern State University in Tahlequah. Eddie also earned a degree in Three Dimensional Arts from the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe. His work is carved from limestone, red cedar, marble and other natural materials. Eddie’s award winning art can be seen in many public and private collections throughout the United States.

Eddie Morrison was quoted as saying “My statement about my work is that I consider the natural forms of the wood & stone & believe in letting the material speak for itself & feel that they have their own stories to tell.” Eddie has a great deal of respect for nature, animals, and the Great Creator. This shows easily in his work and sincerely makes it a pleasure to the visual senses.
