Princess Diana was known for her bold sense of style. Among her most talked-about looks was a black dress that she wore out on the town at the tender age of 19, just after she became engaged to Prince Charles. The dress caused a bit of a stir back in the day because of its “racy” nature. Of course, “racy” is a relative term these days.

The famous black gown has just fetched $276,000 — several times the highest estimated going price — at an auction Tuesday in London, Reuters reports. So what did the Chilean fashion museum that bought it get for its hundreds of thousands of dollars? The dress is a strapless silk taffeta number Diana wore in 1981. The low neckline and daring hue sent the press into a frenzy at the time.

My Take: Love the evening dresses Princess Di used to wear. She grew out of the puffing dresses that looked like she bought them at the prom dress store, and, until her death, learned to accentuate her positive attributes and toned down the frilly pink and white dresses she wore in her early days as Princess of Whales.

I saw Princess Di working out at a small gym in London in 1995 when I lived there. She often used the same gym I did for Pilates instruction and some personal training. I never have gotten that far with Pilates exercise but it does do great things for the arms and toning out the upper body.

After the $58 million debut of “Monsters vs. Aliens”, which costume will your child choose for this Halloween? I think it is fantastic that Hollywood took old-time movie monsters, gave them a makeover and made them heroes. They certainly conquered the weekend box office at the end of March. Halloween costumes this year are certainly going to be interesting.

DreamWorks really did out do itself this time in a feature with creatures from 1950s movies that fight invading extraterrestrials. This debut even outdid the “Watchmen” that came out in early March. That is another one that will lead to interesting and sexy Halloween costumes. Of course, neither of these movies makes you think of Santa Claus suits.

DreamWorks Animation has really come out with some really great movies for kids like “Monsters”, another movie that led to some really neat Halloween costumes. Are movies the reason why many people call kids “little monsters”?

I wonder, can anybody name the four old movies that the four characters are from? It is obvious that B.O.B. is from the movie “The Blob”? What about Dr. Cockroach? Is he from “The Fly” or maybe “They Live”? And what about The Missing Link? He might just be Godzilla! Who can name the movie that Ginormica is from? This is an old black-and-white movie.

Just remember, do not let the kids have stilts for the Ginormica Halloween costume. That just might be a little bit dangerous. On the other hand, the Bob, Dr. Cockroach and The Missing Link costumes might be really cute.

The materials and colors are very dark, they are loose fitting and do look comfortable. It seems to me that there are some trends returning, but my humble opinion is that you should wear what you like and what you feel at ease in.
